2 Common Reasons People Struggle With Their Weight

Have you ever wondered why eating healthy can be difficult sometimes? You are not alone.

When it comes to nutrition and diet, some of us have real struggles. We want to eat clean and healthy, but we keep falling on our faces again and again.

Why do people struggle with their diet? In my opinion, there are two common reasons people struggle with their diet.

Reason #1: Going on a punishment diet

A punishment diet is any diet plan that restricts calorie intake in a drastic way (Esta’s definition). Remember those diet plans that only allow you to eat one cucumber and one boiled egg for breakfast, one piece of roasted chicken for lunch and 1 cup of grape juice, or a plate of cabbage soup dinner?

That is what a punishment diet looks like!

Solution

If you are one of those people who have the habit of going from one punishment diet to another, you need to stop that unhealthy habit ASAP! Why? Because there is no magic diet for weight loss!
The only weight loss program that will work for you is the one you can stick to for a long time. Punishment diets don’t work because they are not sustainable. Punishment diets don’t work because they are unhealthy.

Reason #2: Lack of proper planning and preparation

This is one challenge many healthy eaters face. They struggle with their diet because they usually don’t plan their meals ahead. Not having a meal plan means they may be tempted to eat whatever is available when they are hungry.

Solution

Make it a habit to always plan and prep your meals ahead. Don’t wait till meal time before you start thinking about what you’ll eat. And when you plan your meals, make sure you take the time to prep the meals.
Having a meal plan means nothing if you don’t do the actual meal preparation.

Planning ahead also means you know when you’re going to be eating out and what you’re going to eat when eating out. Your meal plan serves as your nutrition guide throughout the day.

Don’t leave your nutrition to chance. Plan ahead and make an effort to stick to your plan
